Samuel Antonio Reyes (Sammy) has been involved in the Philadelphia performing arts scene for more than 15 years. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performing Arts from University of the Arts in 2001. During his time at UArts, Samuel was the recipient of the Cushman Acting Award and The Theater Ensemble Award.
Sammy went on to study dance under the training of Ronen Koresh, Artistic Director at Koresh Dance Company, and Dr. Rennie Harris, Artistic Director of Rennie Harris Puremovement. He has also had the opportunity to dance with many local Philadelphia artists, including Charles O. Anderson, Kate Watson-Wallace, and Montazh Performing Arts Co.
Sammy also performed in two productions at the Prince Theater in Philadelphia: St. Louie Women and Pal Joey, where he assisted Dance Captian & Assistant Choreographer Myra Bazell. It was for this production that Sammy was nominated for a Barrymore Award in 2002 for Best Choreography & Movement In A Musical. What an honor!
After years of performing on Philadelphia stages, Sammy began to tour the country. From 2004 to 2006, he toured with and creating for Disney’s Raven-Symoné! His choreography could also be seen during the Real World Philly Welcoming Ceremony in 2002, various music videos & TV commercials, and even at XFINITY Live!, where he is the current choreographer for Philly’s #1 dancing cover band, The Rockets.
When he’s not choreographing for some of the area’s top names, Sammy can be found working as an adjunct professor at Muhlenberg College. He is also a Professor of Dance and Theater all over the Tri-State area, and serves as Artistic Director of his very own dance company, SANBROOKA Productions.
Addicted 2 Dance is honored to have such an experienced, talented, and energetic performing artist on our roster of instructors! Welcome to the team, Sammy!
