Jennifer Edmonds – aka “Miss Jenn” – began her training at a very young age at the Toni Schwartz Studio of Dance, where she studied all aspects of dance for nearly eight years. During her time there, she began dancing competitively, and started auditioning for different dance teams throughout the area.
By the age of 10, Edmonds was selected to be a dancer for the Philadelphia 76ers’ Junior Dance Team. After performing with this group for a year, she moved on to continue her lessons at Release Dance Academy. She accepted a spot with the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Junior Dance Team, where she performed for two years.
In addition to being enrolled as a student, Edmonds was already instructing dance lessons at Release Dance Academy by her junior year of high school. In the summer of 2013, she assisted the Directors of Release Dance Academy in a national dance championship opening number piece. It was at that moment that she discovered her new passion: teaching.
She was accepted to The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she earned the Prestigious Artist Scholarship and the University Grant. During her time at the UA, she trained under many renowned choreographers and instructors, such as Wayne St. David, Molly Misgalla, Michael Sheridan, and Jesse Zaritt. As an aspiring Rockette, she has recently been accepted into their intensive training programs, and continues to study under current Rockettes.
As her passion for dance continues to grow, so does her love for teaching. When she sees a child’s face light up with excitement as they learn and improve their skills, she is struck with a sense of pride in knowing that she made a difference in helping them to reach her goals. Miss Jenn is thrilled to share the knowledge she has obtained over the years with her students at Addicted 2 Dance!
