A2D Company 2012-2013 Information and Invitations
Please review all the important information about responsibilities for A2D Company Dancers and Parents.
Mandatory Classes
Each company dancer must take the following classes:
- Small Fry: Small Fry Technique, 1 Ballet Class (IF on ballet company, ballet company CLASS can qualify as your ballet class), and company class(es).
- Junior: Junior Technique (any technique is fine – A2D Staff will divide the dancers by level), 2 ballet classes (if on ballet company, one can be the corresponding ballet CLASS), then company class(es).
- Senior: Senior Technique, 3 ballet classes (if on ballet company, one can be the corresponding ballet CLASS), then company class(es).
A2D Company Dancers
The expectations and commitment of a company dancer are very high.
First, A2D company classes are run differently than recreational classes. The goal of company classes is to perfect one routine to compete at several dance competitions. Company dancers must be able to receive and apply corrections, have a respectful attitude with staff and teammates, have a good to high level of dance technique, have excellent attendance record ,and give 110% in every rehearsal.
Competitions
The dance “season” runs the full school year – September through June – just like our dance year. Our company teams will BEGIN at one extended rehearsal (per team) during the last week of August, before Labor Day. This team rehearsal is mandatory for all dancers on our teams.
Competition season is generally in March and April but can be anywhere from January until May. We release the dates of competitions in early September. The ENTIRE WEEKEND of the competitions must be left free, since we do not find out when the routines will compete until approximately two weeks prior. Dancers cannot miss a competition. If a competition is missed, they will be excused from the team. If the dancer misses the last competition, they unfortunately will not be invited back the next season.
For company classes (classes rehearsing your company routines), dancers may miss NO MORE THAN THREE unexcused classes, and NO MORE THAN 25% of other scheduled classes without being excused from company team(s).
Financial Commitment
For parents of company dancers, there is a financial responsibility above and beyond recreational classes. Each competition carries an entry fee per dancer per routine. Also, company dancers are required to take additional classes, raising their monthly tuition rate. Every week, they must take 1-3 ballet classes (depending on age), a required technique class, and a core class strengthening their company dance (a jazz class for their jazz company).
Below is a basic breakdown of fees to give an idea of the financial responsibility.
- $150 – Company Warm Up
- $105 – ($35 Group Fee x 3 Competitions)
- $265 – Required Convention
- $40 – Makeup, Hair Products, Etc.
- $70 – Competition Costume
- =$630
Please note the fees listed are “one time” fees. Not listed are additional monthly tuition, etc. Also, these fees are based on being on one team. Dancing on additional teams means additional competition fees and costume fees.
Solos/Duos/Trios
“Specials” – solos/duos/trios are awarded by invitation only and selections are based on multiple points including dance technique, stage presence, attendance, positive attitude, team spirit and work ethic. “Specials” carry a significant financial responsibility, so this is also taken into account. “Specials” invitations for the 2012-2013 season have been announced.
Now For The FUN!!!
Yes, being an A2D Company Dancer takes a lot of work and commitment, but there are so many great benefits, too!
Aside from becoming a strong dancer and great performer, the dancers develop wonderful friendships with their fellow teammates, they develop great sportsmanship, and they earn well deserved pride from their accomplishments throughout the year.
This summer, 3/4 of our team traveled to Orlando to dance in Downtown Disney and enjoyed the week soaking up the Florida summer sun and fun of the Disney parks; an activity we hope to continue every few years!
2012-2013 Invitation List
We appreciate the thought given to auditioning for the Addicted 2 Dance Company Team. If you were not invited to join A2D’s Company Team this year, please know that we enjoyed watching everyone’s performances and we appreciate your time and effort. We’d be glad to recommend classes to help dancers reach their performance goals.

Always Keep Dancing!!!
